Distance I

‘Distance I’, the first of a two-part series, is comparing physical distance with emotional distance.

We are far away
What can I do
to get you to come my way

You’re fine where you are
even though that’s not enough
grow up and get in the car

Many bus stops and airports
between our worlds
I’m wearing gloves and a scarf while you’re wearing shorts

This is too much
I keep thinking
I need to feel your touch

Except we’re staring at each other
I’m longing for your connection
Your affection, show me that you bother
