‘The zone I’ is the 1st part of 4 in an abstract and reflective piece about feeling more inspired and creative when writing poems, songs, etc. whenever you’re sad. It’s such a paradox and impasse because I appreciate writing, but I feel it’s best when I’m sad. On the other hand I’ve learned to appreciate these moments, so I get through my issues and feel better on the other side.
‘The covers’ is a piece about the back and forth in a relationship. It’s about not understanding each other’s needs and wishes and not communicating.
‘Slowly’ is a piece about seeking that emotional connection and longing for that other person’s presence.
‘Thoughts’ is a piece about love. Random thoughts about being in love.
‘Head-first’ is about letting go of past experiences and learning to move on and tackling your issues head-on.
‘Lost’ is an abstract piece about being in a toxic relationship or environment.
‘Brightness-level’ is an abstract piece about opposites.
The poem ‘In-check’ is about learning to get to know yourself, your feelings, your moods, and how you can get yourself out of really bad situations. Wallowing in self-pity only reinforces the bad situation, so realizing that it’s about to occur can help you move on, even if it’s hard.
‘Make or break’ is about a beginning of a relationship, where you don’t know where you are in regard to one another. It is about daring to put it all on the table and seeing what happens.
